The Weekly Blog Post #4 – Food

I love bread in all variations. As toast, as loaf of white bread, as croissant, as little chocolate bun, spongy, crispy, baguette, focaccia, ciabatta, sweet, salty, oily, cheesy, black bread (very famous where I come from), buns, sticks, fluffy or flat. I eat toast and pita bread right out of the wrapping without any heating. I even like gluten-free breads and buns and I had some amazing gluten-free pizzas before. Much better than some regular pizza. But I never made my own bread before. Until this week.

Brother Teymur posted a fancy cooking video a few weeks ago and the recipe seemed to be easy as hell. Easy enough for my silly baking skills. Check it out:

Kenji seems to be quite famous so this might not be new to you. He was new to me and I really liked the video itself. I will checkout some more of his cooking videos for sure.

The bread from the video has a very simple approach and I still fucked it up because I forgot one step and I didn’t had these large metal bowls. Up until today when I finally bought two.

The outside was too dark and it was not ready on the insight. I really needed that bowl.

Today I tried the next round (with the bowls) with some sweet buns. Different recipe and resting times but with the same handwork and bowl moves.

Yep, much better. And the one with the brown spots was a chocolate experiment. It kinda worked but darker chocolate would have been better. Next time.

On the other side, some guy (also Teymur) brought us very nice tacos from Sweden. We had two simple salsa sauces with some veggy-meat, kidney beans and cheese and then we rolled them up in the tacos. It was a blast. The veggy stuff from “The Vegetarian Butcher” is a real game changer for me. We don’t eat vegetarian but our local butcher is just super bad. It takes the fun out of cooking. During summer, I bought the chicken burger from The Vegetarian Butcher and it was a huge relief. These burgers taste amazing and they are super easy to cook or grill. And the minced meat is of similar quality. 5/5.

And last but not least, I also did my mother’s pizza dough last week. Nothing fancy and a very quick and dirty pizza recipe but it gets the job done.

If you ask yourself why every photos has an orange tone, well, we only use very cozy yellow lights in our kitchen. All shots done with an iPhone 14 pro.

Next week I will tell you about bird watching.

PS:

If this movie doesn’t win a few oscars I don’t know what will.
